Biography
David read music at the University of York, where he enjoyed a busy performing schedule, highlights of which included a performance of Bach's 'Coffee Cantata' at the National Centre for Early Music, and a recording of medieval chant with the vocal ensemble Red Byrd. David subsequently worked in other areas for a number of years, while continuing vocal studies privately, before pursuing a career in music. He is currently studying with Raymond Connell. Opera roles have included Escamillo Carmen, Morales Carmen, Figaro Le nozze di Figaro, Leporello Don Giovanni, Masetto Don Giovanni, Guglielmo Così fan tutte, Schaunard La bohème, Yakusidé Madama Butterfly, and Cox Cox and Box. |

As an opera chorister, David has sung with the Nederlandse Reisopera, Opera Holland Park, and Dorset Opera. Performances as a chorister have included fully-staged productions of Bach’s St John Passion, Bizet’s Carmen, Debussy’s Pelléas et Mélisande, Donizetti's Lucia di Lammermoor, L'elisir d'amore and Maria Stuarda, Leoncavallo’s Pagliacci, Mascagni’s Cavalleria Rusticana, Massenet’s Hérodiade, Mozart’s Le nozze di Figaro, Offenbach's La Périchole, Puccini’s Turandot, Tosca and La Rondine, Rossini's Cenerentola and Il Barbiere di Siviglia, and Verdi’s Otello, Il Trovatore and Nabucco. |
David is also a regular concert performer, having given recitals featuring Schumann’s Dichterliebe, Schumann's Liederkreis Op. 39, Schubert's Die Schöne Müllerin, Beethoven's An die ferne Geliebte, Mahler's Rückert-Lieder, and Vaughan Williams' Songs of Travel, as well as appearing as an oratorio soloist in Haydn’s Great Organ Mass, Schubert's Mass in C, Dvořák’s Mass in D, and Charles Ives’ General William Booth Enters into Heaven. |
